AYURVEDA, CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIOTHORACIC NURSING

AYURVEDA, CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIOTHORACIC NURSING

(THE PICTURE ABOVE GIVEN WILL BE EXPLAINED IN LATER UPDATIO

Atharveda is a sacred text of Hinduism dating early Iron Age, which deal about medicine and treatment. Atharveda not only dealt with the basic concepts of paranormals, exorcism of demons and magic but also about herbs for various ailments. Ayurveda emerged in the first millennium BCE, meaning the "complete knowledge for long life". The earliest foundations of Ayurveda were built on a synthesis of traditional herbal practises together with a massive addition of theoretical conceptualisations and new therapies dating from about 400 BCE onwards.

Ayurveda is considered as the fifth Veda. It is an extensive area of traditional and ancient science which can be used in collaboration with the modern medicine. I always amused by history of Indian medicine. I think you will also become speechless if we read that history. Now a day’s most of the modern health care centres concentrating n collaborative medicine. Researchers found an effective improvement in the client’s health by the collaborative use of the other systems of medicine like Ayurveda. Here I am trying to discuss about the relation of Ayurveda to cardiology and cardiothoracic nursing. I hope this will help the professional readers to think broadly about the treatment and cure of cardiac issues.

Health and disease are not predetermined and life may be prolonged by human effort. (charakasamhita)
The purpose of medicine to cure the diseases of the sick, protect the healthy, and to prolong life.
(Susrutasamhita)
This is what my conceptual model for the collaboration of ayurveda with the modern nursing

Ayurvedic nursing is an under developed area of service, if we could link with the nursing services it can make excellent results. Examples :- Ayurvedic foot massages helps to improve the sleep. Ayurvedic marma chikitsa (treatment by stimulating vital points of human body) helps to reduce migraine like conditions.
Such treatments have no known risk factors, so research in such area will help the nurses to increase the body of knowledge of nursing science. Here I am trying to induce certain basic knowledge which will help nurse researchers to take up new topics for studies.
